Ronald S. Caswell

SENIOR COUNSEL

Ronald S. Caswell, formerly of Caswell & Cannon, has successfully litigated cases in California state and federal courts since 1992.  Mr. Caswell also has successfully litigated cases in Hawaii and Nevada.  Mr. Caswell enjoys the highest ("AV") Peer-Review Rating for professional excellence.

Mr. Caswell specializes in many types of litigation, including, but not limited to, business and commercial litigation, contract disputes, unfair competition claims, business fraud, defamation, theft of trade secrets, non-competition claims, construction defect claims, commercial and residential unlawful detainers, mechanic’s liens, real estate litigation and appellate work.  Mr. Caswell also has represented individuals in wrongful death, personal injury and dog-bite claims. 

Mr. Caswell’s clients have included international designers, manufacturers, national retailers, landowners, commercial property managers, real estate developers, regional construction companies, family businesses, and individuals in high profile and complex commercial disputes.  Mr. Caswell has also represented owners of thoroughbred race horses in numerous matters brought against the California Horse Racing Board and, in February 2009, the California Court of Appeal published a significant opinion in favor of a horse-racing client represented by Mr. Caswell.  Mr. Caswell also served as general counsel for an adult-entertainment company.

After receiving a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the State University of New York in Binghamton, Mr. Caswell took a Masters of Arts Degree in Psychology from Hollins College, in Roanoke, Virginia.  In 1992, Mr. Caswell received his Juris Doctorate from Loyola Law School of Los Angeles, where he graduated just outside of the top 10% of his class.  While attending Loyola Law School, Mr. Caswell was awarded an American Jurisprudence award for appellate advocacy, and, while working as an editor for the International & Comparative Law Journal, published a significant article in the journal entitled “A Comparison and Critique of Idea Protection in California, New York and Great Britain.” 

Mr. Caswell prides himself on conducting litigation efficiently and in a cost-effective manner.  Mr. Caswell goes out of his way to avoid unnecessary discovery or law and motion disputes, and instead prioritizes approaches focused on reaching successful resolutions.  Nevertheless, Mr. Caswell is an experienced trial attorney who actually enjoys the process and will always be prepared to take a matter to trial, should it be necessary to do so.
